Titanic: Archives Of A 'True Hero' Who Rescued Many Women And Children To Be Auctioned For 80 Thousand Dollars
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet’s Titanic was one of the biggest blockbusters and highest-grossing films back then. Ever since the film was released in 1997, audiences were not only in awe of Leo and Kate’s sizzling chemistry but they were marvelling over director James Cameron’s direction and screenplay as well. As we speak of the film, here we have an interesting fact about Titanic and not about the film but about the person who was a part of the scenario when the unsinkable ship drowned for real in 1912.

According to a report in Daily Mail, when the RMS Titanic sank, one of the seamen named Harold Lowe was the only one to go back to the scene for the survivors and helped many women and children into lifeboats. For the reference, in the 1997 blockbuster movie, when Rose is lying on the huge piece of the door, a boat comes to the scene to help the survivors, well, that was Harold Lowe who saved Kate’s character. Mr Lowe was played by Ioan Gruffudd in James Cameron’s blockbuster film. The report further reported that he was called the 'true hero of the Titanic' and now his archives are being put on sale by his family 108 years after the disaster. It is expected to sell for £60,000, claimed the same portal.

Mr Lowe's personal belongings include a poignant telescope given to him by the real-life survivor who had it inscribed with the words 'To Harold G. Lowe...The Real Hero of the Titanic,' the officer's whistle that he may well have used onboard Titanic and a very rare photograph of all of the officers on the RMS Carpathia, the ship that rescued all of the survivors are given for the auction.

Auctioneer Andrew Aldridge was quoted by the portal: “These items have never been seen or auctioned before having remained in the Lowe family since 1912 and has been inherited by the vendor. 'Harold Lowe was a career seaman and spent 35 years in the merchant navy and amassed this superb archive during that time. He was without doubt one of the heroes of the Titanic disaster. He is venerated by the Titanic community as the officer who went back.”
